“HOW ORDINARY CITIZENS CAN IDENTIFY
AND EVALUATE TERRORIST THREATS”
When: Sunday, November 1, 2009 • 12:00 NOON to 5:00 PM.
Where: Marriott at Boca Center • 5150 Town Center Circle • Boca Raton, Florida
Seminar/Workshop Description:
Thus far this year, over 40 Americans have been arrested for trying to carry out terrorism-related plots. Major cases of homegrown terrorism include the Long Islander who joined and worked for al-Qaeda, the plot by Muslim converts to destroy synagogues and a military base in New York, the Fort Dix conspiracy, the plot to
operate a terrorist training camp in Oregon, the convictions of the Liberty City 7 in Miami and the defendants in the Holy Land Foundation trial in Dallas, the Somali teenagers from Minnesota, and the arrests of Daniel Boyd and six other North Carolina residents. ALL INVOLVE MILITANT EXTREMISTS LIVING AMONG US!
The eyes and ears of the general public - when possessing situational awareness and necessary skill-sets - can be of inestimable value in spotting anomalies that may pose a direct or indirect threat to security and peace. Based upon techniques adapted from those taught to intelligence and national security professionals, this seminar/workshop imparts research, recruitment and observational skills required by citizens to constructively assist appropriate authorities in thwarting potential terrorism.
